VACC Group is a boutique consulting practice that provides integrated vertical transportation, facade access, and code compliance advisory services for complex buildings.
Founded by Lance McMasters (25+ years) and Will Bowden (30+ years), VACC Group was formed to address a growing gap in how modern buildings are designed, maintained, and operated—particularly where vertical systems, facade access, and back-of-house circulation intersect.
Over the past two decades, buildings have become denser, more mixed-use, and increasingly complex to operate. Vertical circulation is no longer limited to tenant movement; it now supports maintenance, inspections, façade access, life safety, and ongoing operability.
Traditionally, elevator systems and façade access have been designed in parallel, often by separate consultants. That separation has created coordination gaps—particularly in high-rise and mixed-use buildings where back-of-house movement, equipment access, and maintenance strategies increasingly rely on shared vertical infrastructure.
VACC Group was formed to close that gap by aligning vertical transportation, façade access, and building operations early in design—supporting safer systems, clearer compliance pathways, and more reliable long-term performance.
Lance McMasters brings more than 25 years of experience in façade access, fall protection, and building maintenance systems for high-rise and complex structures.
After founding and leading McMasters Facade Access Consulting, Lance recognized the need to move beyond facade systems in isolation. As buildings evolved, maintenance access, inspections, and operability increasingly depended on coordinated vertical circulation, prompting the formation of VACC Group.
Lance’s work focuses on integrating façade access, fall protection, and maintenance strategies with overall building design, ensuring that systems are safe, code-compliant, and operationally viable throughout the building's life.
Will Bowden has more than 30 years of experience in vertical transportation, including elevator consulting, modernization, traffic analysis, and system planning for complex buildings.
Will’s background spans hands-on technical roles through senior consulting leadership, giving him a practical perspective on how elevator systems perform long after construction is complete.
At VACC Group, Will leads vertical transportation strategy and coordination, working closely with design teams to ensure elevator systems support not only occupant movement, but maintenance access, operational efficiency, and long-term building performance.
VACC Group approaches projects through early coordination, clear documentation, and performance-driven design review.
Our consulting approach emphasizes:
This approach helps teams reduce late-stage conflicts, avoid operational surprises, and deliver buildings that perform as intended—both on day one and decades later.
VACC Group supports architects, owners, and developers on new construction, modernization, and due diligence efforts for complex buildings.
